In June a £1 billion fund for education was announced by the government to provide Catch-up for pupils who were finding it difficult to settle back into school life, or needed more support to catch-up with lost learning. Allocation of these funds is determined by the needs of each school and the pupils that attend it. To support this the Education Endowment Fund published a support guide with evidence based approaches to catch up for all students and we have used this to help us determine how best to spend the funding.
Please refer to the document below for further detail and information explaining how the allocation will be spent at Skelmanthorpe Academy
Skelmanthorpe Academy Catch-up Statement
At Skelmanthorpe Academy we use the Catch up premium allocations for the following:
- Curriculum resources and materials that support 'catch-up' and the social, emotional and mental health of pupils
- Additional intensive support to develop the outcomes of pupils who have been identified as needing 'catch-up' in their learning
It is also part of a wider plan to enable pupils to transition back to normal school life following the national lockdown. The allocation of funds will consider the whole child, both academically and emotionally and reflect the schools intent to:
'provide ALL our children with an engaging, diverse and purposeful curriculum that inspires, motivates, challenges and excites them.'
