Nursery

'We Play together, we learn together'

Nursery provision 3-5 years.

Nursery is led by Mrs Wilkinson (Class Teacher), with Miss Scott (Nursery Nurse) and Mrs Booth (Educational Teaching Assistant).

We offer places for all children aged between 3-5 years.

The nursery offers 5 free morning sessions per week.  If you would like to put your child’s name down on our waiting list please telephone 01484 863306.

We provide a rich and stimulating learning environment, indoors and out, with well trained, caring and committed professionals. Our aim is to ensure children attending our nursery are inquisitive about all their learning, in an environment that they feel safe, happy and well-supported.

Staff  observe children regularly in order to inform their planning and ensure that each individual child’s needs are met. Observations and planning focus on the 7 areas of Learning & Development;

– Personal, Social & Emotional
– Physical
– Communication & Language
– Mathematics
– Literacy
– Understanding the World
– Expressive Arts & Design.

Play is at the heart of our curriculum and we balance child led activities with more focused adult planned experiences. Play is children’s work … pay us a visit and we feel sure that you will see how hard our children work at nursery and how much they are learning.

Learning Areas:

The indoor continuous provision is planned and designed to reflect different areas of the curriculum.

There are areas for:

  • Drawing and writing which we refer to as 'mark making'

  • Reading

  • Working on the computer and the interactive smart board.

  • Jigsaws and games including counting, matching and sorting.

  • Sand play and water play.

  • Creativity which offers painting, expressive arts and design.

  • Home corner role play where children can also use play dough.

There are always interactive displays which encourage speaking and listening and numeracy skills.

Outdoor Play Area

This area is planned and designed to mirror the learning that is taking place inside on a larger scale. Children are given access to mark making activities, reading outside as well as access to numerous activities that aid the development of gross and fine motor skills.

We have a large outdoor play area which we use every day. The outdoor area includes a grassed area and bike track

There is a large canopy offering shelter from the elements which offers outdoor mark making, an area to look at books and small world play.

Resources that can be found outside include stilts, stepping stones and an outdoor mud kitchen.

We encourage the children to enjoy our outdoor play areas as much as possible, and would be grateful if you could ensure that your child has in nursery the following equipment:.

Warm/Sunny weather: - sun screen should be applied and a sun hat provided.

Cold weather:  warm clothing e.g. hat, scarf, gloves, and suitable footwear.
