Homework

Your child will receive weekly homework in Squirrels Class on a Friday afternoon. This will include reading tasks, spellings and a mathematics activity. Your child should complete all tasks in their homework book and any worksheets can be stuck into this.

Please return finished homework by Thursday morning and encourage your child to remember it is their responsibility to hand in the homework. There is a tray in the classroom for finished homework. Spelling tests will take place on Friday mornings, children will be tested on the words they have received the week before.

In addition, each half term there will be a Topic Homework challenge. The deadline for Spring 1's task will be Tuesday 11th February 2020.

We will also focus on different aspect of our Knowledge Organisers each week. Please help your children to learn the facts on these as they will help them enormously with their topic work in school.

Reading

As in previous classes your child will have a reading book linked to the phonics phase they are working on. Please read with you child at least three times a week and discuss the books as they read them. Also, please write a comment in their reading diary each time you read. Your child will receive a dojo point each time they bring their diary for us to check. Please ensure that your child has their reading books and diary in school every day.

Our whole school reading challenge is underway and we would really like to win the special class prize, so read as much as you can!

P.E.

This half term, P.E. will be on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your child has an indoor kit of shorts and t-shirt as well as an outdoor kit and trainers.

Help in Class

I always really appreciate help in class either to work with the children or to listen to reading. If you are able to help please do come and have a word with me.

As ever, if you have any questions about your child's learning, please pop in to see me anytime.

Thank you

Miss Alison Walshe

Amazing balance work Squirrels Class. Exploring points and patch balances using equipment.

We have fantastic imaginations. Look at our amazing group freeze frames inspired by Chris Judge's The Lonely Beast.

We love using equipment in maths to help us solve problems!

Squirrels Class Trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park

We had an absolutely fantastic time at the sculpture park and experienced all the seasons in one day. We even added our own sculptures for other visitors to enjoy!

We work hard in Squirrels Class and we love to have fun, too. We have regular brain breaks to help us with our focus, concentration and to improve our funky dance moves!

First day back after half term and Squirrels Class have amazed me with their amazing addition and subtraction skills. Keep it up!
